Novartis Recalls Excedrin and Bufferin Products

Manufacturing problems may cause product mix-ups or improper dose.

By Andrea Kane

1/19/12 Novartis is recalling Excedrin products with expiration date of Dec. 20, 2014 or earlier and Bufferin products with expiration date of Dec. 20, 2013 or earlier, in addition to certain NoDoz and Gas-X products. Click here to see a full list of recalled products. The recalled products, sold over-the-counter, are distributed nationwide.

Novartis Consumer Health, or NCH, is taking this action as a precautionary measure. Manufacturing problems at its Lincoln, Neb., plant may have resulted in chipped or broken tablets, or stray tablets or caplets from other Novartis products ending up in the wrong bottles. This could result in consumers taking an unintended product and/or receiving a higher or lower strength than intended. NCH reports that it is not aware of any adverse events related to the recall.

Consumers with the recalled products should stop using them and return them for a full refund. For more information and directions on how to return the recalled products, click here, or contact Novartis Consumer Relationship Center at 888/477-2403, available from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time Monday through Friday.

I want my excederine migraine stuff back!! The other stuff hardly fazes me when I have a migraine. I just found out about the recall. I thought it was just our store.

I too have only been able to use Excedrin to help with my pain. I did go to Costco and they have a generic form of Excedrin called Major and it really works just as well. If you ask a druggist, it is a behind the counter product. Hope this helps because it sure helped me.

Regular bufferin has always been the best for me. It never upset my stomach. No other brand does the trick.

Its been 5 months since this recall and there is still no replacement product on the shelf. What's the real problem???? When will these products be available again???? I tried calling their hotline and got a bunch of recordings about how busy they are and then got cut off.

Is this Bufferin recall forever?
As for the Walmart brand - - I used to take it and was well pleased with it. Walmart

discontinued the product some years ago.
When I got my last package of Bufferin on 10 Jan.2012,WMart said they would not have more until March, so I got a store brand at the grocery - an orange colored ceramic-like coating. It seems to work OK, but opening the package is rather like opening a nest of snakes - the tablets all slither out at once to roll around on the floor looking for places to hide. Will Bufferin be back soon? Or even better, the Walmart brand?

I want My Excedrin Migraine back !!! Excedrin Migraine is the only thing that prevents my migraines from becoming full blown !! I get an aura before a migrain and if I take Excedrin as soon as the aura starts my migrain headache is much less painful! I have tried other brands and generics, they don't work as well.

I was very upset to see that excedrines had been recalled. I also went to all of the little stores and gas stations in an expanded radius and collected all the packets that they were still selling. I now take prescriptions of 800 mg. ibuprofen and ultram/tramadol 50 mg. for lower back pain and severe knee pain caused from arthritis.
They dont work that well. I am not sure if it's valid or not but I saw online that acme had a box of the Xtra strenth excedrines for 21 dollars for a box of 50 packets and also office depot had them but they were alot more expensive. I cant afford to spend alot of money so hopefully they will be back on the market soon. I cant see a major corporation just going out of business so I am sure they are working hard to get them back so we just have to be patient.

I have been using Excedrin since they were first put on the market. It is the only thing that works on my headaches, and I have had plenty of headaches in my life. Excedrin clears them up in 30 minutes. These other substitutes don't work.
I would like Excedrin to be back on the shelves by the end of the year or sooner.

The smaller quantities of Excedrin (packets and small bottles) were not recalled, but the stores still pulled them. You can go to places like Amazon and buy them from legitimate sources. I know someone who did that.

I bet anything they got Opana that is morphine and Oxycodone mixed up with Excedrin and Bufferin pills somehow the medicine got all messed up... so maybe you will get Pain Relief of strong stuff in Excedrin or Bufferin pills that is why they are recalling it and why they have taken Opana off the market... that would make more sense than chipped and broken pills now wouldn't it... so if you have any be careful how many you take cause you may od on Pain meds that are labeled as headache meds... that makes total sense now... cause Pain Meds would be headache meds and headache meds would be Pain meds... that is a major mixed up mess... wow...

I have been using BC powder with a coke it has caffine and aspirin then I take a tynelol this will help if I get it at the beginning of the headache but if it is the icepick migraine nothing works on those nothing short of IV meds from the hospital... and even then it just dulls the headache its still there and I have had it now for three weeks straight its driving me nuts... the pain is so intense I have used every thing put all kinds of stuff on neck and back and head to try to relieve it to all temporary... does anyone have idea how to get rid of a ice pick migraine short of going to hospital again...

02 May 2012, 12:02
Funny that they recall Excedrin and Opana the same time frame for the same so called chipped and broken pills... that really to me doesn't compute right... so my pain meds had to be changed cause Novartis Closed its doors now my migraine med is recalled for the same reason... they aren't telling the full truth here... something is wrong with the medicine and they don't want to panic anyone or cause a uproar... and it won't be anytime soon that it comes back if ever... I just had to go to hospital cause now I am more pain than you can imagine cause the other meds are no where near helping and I have had the worst migraines in the history of having migraines... Thanks alot Novartis... hope whatever the real reason is that you can get the doors back open and get the meds back ... if not at least I wish you would tell the real truth but I know that won't happen ... just great...

Excedrin Migraine is made up of aspirin, acetaminophen, and caffeine. You can buy the generic brand at Target or Walmart and it works the same. I have suffered from migraines for over a decade--If you are a migraine sufferer, don't panic, you can use the generic and it will work the same way--the generic brand has the same dosing.

Yeah Excedrin is the best thing for my headaches and migraines. I think its very strange that they wont say why its taking so long. You wouldnt think it would be that long if it were just some broken or fragmented pills. anyway, HURRY THE HELL UP...im out

I called Novartis today and was told that all the recalled Novartis products would be back on shelves midyear (meaning nodoze, bufferin, regular excedrin, excedrin migraine, and gasx)...I asked if that meant June and the answer again was "midyear"...they took my email address and will let me know. They told me to either return or discard and EM that I had with an expiration date 12-14 or earlier...like that's going to happen. I have a big bottle, exp 9-13 that I am guarding like gold. It's the only thing that works immediately for me, every time without fail. I don't get what's taking so long and they aren't saying.

I have tried other OTC remedies for migraines without luck. Advil contains ibuprofen and Aleve contains naproxen. Both of these are upsetting to the stomach and not really effective on migraines.
Bring back the Excedrin migraine meds...Please.

This is nothing but a market manipulation to get migrain sufferers to the doctor's offices for dangerous alternatives. Exedrin Migraine worked, so let's take off the market and come back with an expensive alternative.

Ive been taking Advil Migraines since Excedrin Migraine was taken off the shelf...let me just say it works somewhat but not like Excedrin Migraine and a Pepsi...Please elevate whatever process you have to go thru to make sure its safe and get them back on the shelves. O and it helps me when I have a hangover also!!

Re-breathing - into a small paper bag, as folks who hyperventilate do,often helps - something about carbon dioxide levels. I read somewhere else that the pre-menstrual tablet called Pamperin .

Get a brown paper lunch bag and try it.

Or, just wait until you get hardening of the arteries. when your blood can't flow, you won't get migraines. The former Surgeon General Dr. Stoop - Shoop, whatever his name is, said that.

For cluster headaches that start at the base of neck, Aspercreme works.

I was running low on my 250 count bottle and guess what went home looked at my date ( OCT 2014 ).Just now found out there was a recall!!I had noticed in the last year the price had jumped exponentially every time i would go to get another bottle. Should have known something was afoot!!I guess it will not hurt me to finish my last 10 caplets being i am alright after 240?Or am i and this is a just one of the side effects?

I don't need to use them often but when I get a migraine I run right to Excedrin Extra Strength (same exact thing as Excedrin Migraine) and that wipes them out. My trigger is being dehydrated but you can only rehydrate so quickly where as I need pain relief NOW. Along with seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis those 3 things are my answer for lifelong occasional migraines. I recently ran out and no stores have them. I need them back now!

Excedrin work that why their no longer on the market. We can heel our selves no doctors no medical bills greed and money played a part in this this recall. i have taken excedrins from when they were first sold and i am healty because of them 71 years.

Hey everybody: I found Excedrin Migraine and all the others Excedrin only on ebay, it cost an elevate price, but there is no price for a terrible Migraine pain. I know these seller didn't return the merchandise from the store pharmacies and now are making fortunes with the Excedrin. So If you have the money you can pay more and get it now, calm your pain until the normal prices are showing on the shelves when Novartis will go back to tha market. Hope I helped.

I used to have really bad migraines the only way I get rid of my headache is excedrin migraine nothing else makes them go away. I really don't want to do with out it. It is a really good product and a lot of people depend on it. Why do all the products that work always have to disappear. We need to snatch a knot in these idiots butts n throw them to the curb for tampering with something that really works. Please resolve the issue n get it back on the shelf .
Excerdrin is great product and is a big part of a lot of people's lives .

I've dealt with the chronic pain of advanced arthritis for more than 20 years now. Recalls happen and this appears to be an execellent move by NOVARTIS to protect the public.
Exedrin is nothing but tylenol, aspirin, and caffeine pressed into a single pill.

Personally, I don't use Exedrin. But if I did, I'd be taking tylenol and aspirin with a cup of coffee and remaining pain-free instead of whining about empty spaces on shelves.

who cares if the tablets are chipped or broken!! Honestly, I break my Extra Strength Excedrin Express Gel caps in half when I don't need a whole one anyway.
I need my Excedrin back! I've got all of 3 pills left and that won't last me 24 hours!
I have severe degenerative bone loss in my spine and other than going to a narcotic pain killer (hate them) the ONLY thing that works for me is the Extra Strength Excedrin Gel Caps!
PLEASE GET THEM BACK ON THE SHELF!!!

Hey guys I too have been a user of Excedrine for many years and the pull from shelves really shocked me. I have found a solution that is cheap and just as effective. It is Wal-Mart's version of Excedrine......"Equate Headache Relief." Hey I'm satisfied for now...it works and it's only 94 cents for 24 and $4 for 200. HOPE THIS INFORMATION IS HELPFUL TO THOSE WHO USED EXCEDRINE FOR HEADACHE PAIN.

First the FDA took the Midrin of the pharmacy shelves (prescript) and that was the ONLY thing that would kick my migraines. They tried giving me Imitrex or something, and another prescription and both were like throwing beebees at a charging grizzly!! Then when I asked my doctor about all this she said it was more like a "hush hush, wink wink" situation so Imitrex would be the main one prescribed. I turned to Excedrin Migraine and found it to be almost as good. NOW THEY TAKE THAT OFF THE SHELVES! When will the almighty dollar NOT take presidence over our health? We are not stupid and we do look at the pills before we take them! Bring back the Excedrin Migraine!

I wonder how many visits to the Dr. (office and ER), prescriptions for high dollar migraine drugs, lost wages, and production have resulted from Excedrin coming off the shelves. Greed must be behind this recall.

If I find anything that works - instead of Excedrin, I will never buy Excedrin again. I feel totally taken advantage of - and lied to. It was a great product, but I am hoping I never have to buy it again. ... OR any of the other products manufactured by Novartis. I still have my empty bottle, and believe you me, I WILL BE CHECKING INGREDIENTS on OTHER PRODUCTS!

Please bring it back ASAP. I get a headache just being without it!!!!

I've gone from being irritated at looking all over the countryside for Excedrin to being frightened that something really BAD was in those products. Nothing else makes sense. This is NOT a "normal" recall! Have they killed our livers? Are we okay?

OK, after some more research, I find that Novartis is lying to those of you who have called them. This recall has nothing to do with chipped pills. This is what I found out:
Said Norvartis CEO Joseph Jimenez. "Well today Novartis is happy to announce our very own golden ticket. Starting immediately, select packages of Excedrin, Bufferin, NoDoz and Gas-X may contain a way to a world of absolute drug-induced euphoria! That's right, we may have substituted the most popular narcotic in the country, oxycodone, for any of these products! How's that for powerful headache relief!!
Mr. Jimenez went on to say that in addition to the wildly popular oxycodone, the promotion also features the classic narcotic morphine. Second place prizes include oxymorphone and hydrocodone.
They have totally screwed up haven't they?

I too was amazed that there was no Excedrin on the shelves in any of my favorite stores. I was finally able to find Equate yesterday
"Walmart brand" For those of you who have offered your kind suggestions regarding such things like have your doctor check you out, or visit a chiropractor, I for one, and I'm sure many others who rely on Excedrin to help minimize our Migraines, like myself, have had so many tests, that at some point felt like a pin cushion or that possibly they might glow in the dark. Many of us started out on narcotics for the pain, but no longer wanted to use that for fear of addiction and changed to Excedrin/ I for one drink plenty of water, and am not dehydtrated, There are many varieties, and many causes of migraine. There is no "One size fits all" diagnosis for a migraine, and no "one treatment for all" either. But one sure thing many of us can agree upon is that Excedrin helps us so we can at least function.

For a major over-the-counter drug like Excedrin to be pulled from shelves so fast, the reason of "chipped pills" appears to be very lame. I was able to transition from hydrocodone to Excedrin Migraine 4 years after surgery successfully and now run circles around my young counterparts. Lets get Excedrin back quickly - I want to keep going :>)

I too suffer from chronic migraines mine are also called Hemiplegic Migraines and sense the recall my doctor has had me try everything for migraines short of Botox or surgery so he has refered me to a Pain Intervention specialist for things I would rather not get on to see if I can avoid having to go to er for shots every 2 days. My mother, cousins, sister, and rest of my family rely on a quality product to help us through daily pain. Please bring back the Excedrine or at least tell us the truth if it wont be back. Many other otc have ingredients that are not compatible with our medications. Thanks.

ermicjdisi am as upset about this recall of excedrin aseveryone else. i have been on excedrin for chronic migraines(hereditary)since i was a teenager.i was put on medication several years ago and taken off it last year by a different doctor stating i was on it too long.execedrin has always been there for me. there were days i didn't need the meds and could get buy with exced. the new stuff ,may be good but i still have the headaches.and i feel like a rag most of the time. actually i took 2 excedrin i have scrounged up and i feel pretty good. i don't envy anyone who gets anykind of chronic headaches. hopefully the drought of excedrin will end soon. i probably will by a thousand to keep my supply going. sounds silly right. everyone please feel well.

@Rick that is true! I couldn't believe it when Exederin Migraine first came out! The first thing I did was compare the ingredients and they were exactly the same! Isn't that a waste of everything eg. new bottles, new commercials, new packaging for something exactly the same? I remember thinking "can they actually do this?!" (seemed kind of unethical or something to me!)
Tammy
23 Mar 2012, 23:29
Oh COME ON!!! It should NOT take that long to fix this! Chipped pills was what I was told too! How difficult can that be? It's not like it's a continuing problem. This is my worst nightmare! Exederin has always been the ONLY thing that will work on my migraines. I mean I have tried everything, even Tyl. #3 will make my head hurt worse. I have always said "what will I ever do if they "run out" of Exederin" not thinking that it ever would happen. I tried Tylenol Migraine because two of the ingredients were the same. There's one other one that was not included. Of course it doesn't work. It numbs it a little. I hope it comes back on the shelf soon. In this day and age I can't believe it's taking so long if it's the reason they're saying.
Ken
20 Mar 2012, 18:04
Novartis just told me for the 10th time in the last 10 weeks they are "working on it." 3 months for "chipped pills" is impossible, must be a far more serious problem. This is costing them millions in lost sales daily. Were they planning on filing Bankruptcy? Odd that no newspapers or news outlets are bringing up this story at all. Rumor mill says June but no idea where that started. I found a bottle Sat. night on a Vegas vacation. Yes it should have been recalled, but I don't care. Nothing else works but Excedrin, no generics, nothing!

I have been taking excedrine for many years. I was addicted to excedrine. I developed an extremely large duodenal ulcer that ate into blood vessels and almost bled to death. This was due to excessive use of the excedrine per the gastro Dr. I am lucky to be here and have not had a headache since stopping the excedrine.

Just so you know..Excedrin Migraine is the exact same as Regular Excedrin..same exact ingredients...this was done as a placebo effect. They simply put "migraine" on it to fool people into thinking it was something better than regular Excedrin. The one I took was Tension Relief...it has no aspirin in it. Now I have to take 2 Tylenol along with half a No Doz to get the same relief. I am like everyone else though..when are they going to start restocking the shelves...going on 2 1/2 months now...problem should have been fixed by now.

Just a little info about any other brand when trying to find something to replace your Excedrin for migraines...Simply compare the amount on the other brands..how much Aspirin ASA ,Acet and Caffine is in the other one ..doesn't matter if it is from Walmart,CVS,Walgreens...because the as long as the amounts of each ingredients are the same you will get same relief...The differance is in HOW SOON YOU GET RELIEF...Did you buy it in the tablets, solid coated pills, capsules, gel caps or other forms.. The one thing everyone forgets is how fast do you need he relief? Being a Migraine sufferrer for over fifty years I always buy the plastic capsels..You need to know the pills and tablets will take longer to get into your system..So when you feel the "ora' just before your migraine ...grap the strong cup of coffee with your the generic form of Excedrin Migraine..find a quite dark room ,place a cool cloth over yours eyes and relax..This combination works for me...Give it about fifteen minutes thats what we do for you if you come into the ER...Good luck and remember it is How your system disolves the med and how fast the form of pill you took gets into your system...The shots once the migraine"gets you" also work because of the route is quicker...So please chill it won't help getting upset..Acet 250mg,ASA 250 mg., & 65 mg of caff ...cp of coffee helps the process...so does washing your hair..will save the dilation of blood vessels with a migraine for future help...SMILE

OMG.................I have not gone a day without excedrin in over 30 years, Didn't really care about the recall because I had a big bottle and figured it would be back by the time I ran out......To my horror!! my daughter stoled the whole bottle. I have about 4 left. I tried to stop one time before and got really sick. guess im really in for it. Besides I heard the company got bought out and don't think they are ever going to bring it back.p.s. I hate tylenol
Its good for nothing.

Bayer aspirin or Motrin 400 seem to do the trick for now, but how much longer must we wait for our "otc drug of choice, Excederin"?
And don't even bother asking the "play pharmasists" @ ur local CVS or Target they're clueless. only the real drug store or more seasoned pharmacists knew what i was inquiring about.

Anywho, thanks for the info. Better safe than sorry.

excedrin extra-strength and excedrin migraine are IDENTICAL. After excedrin extra-strength proved successful in treating migraines, they were approved to sell it for migraine treatments. But it is the SAME FORMULA. I use it frequently and now, not having any, have been going through withdrawals with are low-grade migraines! I hate not having it - but think maybe I grew too dependent on it anyway and hope to get through without it, needed it less or not at all..... wishful thinking.

I was just at Walmart trying to get my Excedrin Migrane. We use it for every ache and pain. They told me it was recalled and not coming back. Reading this the recall sounds temporary. I bought a generic version thats comparable to Extra Strength Excedrin but they didnt have a generic Excedrin Migrane. HELP!

I'm was so disappointed when I found out that Excedrin had a recall. I went shopping for Exedrin at different stores, found none. What a bomb-ma!! Please get Excedrin back in the stores, a lot of people are hurting. I have headaches all the time, my body aches constantly. I have been using Excedrin sense the 70's when they first came on the market. No other aspirin works better for me.

Well I just got thru all the 'reads' and to JTO; this is not a site about English/grammer...really, get a grip! Oh yeah, don't read my 1st note, it has mistakes but that may be because I am typing w/ a broken hand ["a mile in someone elses shoes..."]. Of course there is that pesky 'Freedom of Speech' that the Government insist on supporting..right MRT??

MRT while I'm at it, there are many sites available for your politics. The Gov. is Damned when it does and when it doesn't. Like the Tylenol&Excedrin scares, where people tampered with those products & innocents died. "gov. didn't remove them fast enough" was the outcry.
There is plenty more to say and YES the 'Government' can be devious, but this is not the place.

to all the consumers: I am sorry for your pains [& mine} but the Co. said to me 2/24 they are working hard to restart production.

This is a classic example of our economy at work. Supply and demand. The availability of the product dissipates and the demand stays the same. Excedrin can still be found on EBay, offered by those that are taking advantage of the situation. I know that a lot of folks don’t want to pay, or can’t afford to pay $50 bucks for something that used to cost $12, but it’s still available to those that don’t want to live without their Excedrin fix! I just bought a bottle of 250 counts for $50. I need my Fix!!

When will Excedrines be back on the shelf? Also I work at a store that has pulled the excedrines, what are they supposed to do with all the meds that they pulled.? Thank you..
Sharon G
23 Feb 2012, 10:55
Yes I agree, Excedrin needs to be back on the market ASAP. One thing that's not normally known is that Excedrin Migraine and Extra-Strength Excedrin have exactly the same ingredients at the same strength. So if you find a store brand with those ingredients you have the same thing. A pharmacist friend told me that. What is missing is the psychology point in your mind of having "Excedrin."

Switch to Equate Walmarts brand of Exedrin. I changed years ago because of price concerns. I can not tell the difference. You can buy the 2 bottle double pk 100 per bottle for $4!! It's definately worth a try.

Just phoned the Novartis info line.

No good news folks, they had no estimated date & the most i could get was: "Could be weeks, could be months could be..." They took my email to let me know in the future.

So if your in need like me, I saw some for still under a $100.00 on Ebay but the prices are rising daily. I drove over two states a week ago & couldn't find any! I quickly drained the smaller (though more expensive) gas station boxes days after the recall!!!

Also, what scares me is that after an extended period they may change or manipulate the basic Excedrin formula.

I have tried the CVS store brand migraine medication and it really helps without having to take prescription meds.

You should give this a try while waiting for the Excedrin to come back on the shelves.

This might sound horrible, but like a lot of you I have severe migraines lasting up to a week at a time. I found a store that evidently was unaware of the recall and got as many Excedrin as I could. After having a migraine for a week I could care less what I take as long as it makes it go away. I have tried almost everything and Excedrin is the ONLY thing that helps.

I have migraine headaches 3-5 times out of the week. The DRS wont help even after being diagnosed with them! Excederine was the only thing that starts to take a little of the edge off. I have tried other things and I am finding that I have to double up just to try to function throughout the day. Your back and body also was a huge help. I have fallen 2x on my back. When everything else fails it helps a huge amount. Please help soon!! I dont know how much more I can take without it. My boyfriend is in the same situation that I am. He is also expressing how much your products means to him. How much longer??

Dehydration is one of main causes for headaches, I know water isn't always completely effective although it will help. Also many natural supplements do help you can always hold your thenar pressure point on your hand and it helps as well as hand and feet massage as the feet and hands have the most pressurebpoints. I too am an Excedrin fan but there are a few inexpensive alternatives for you all, I hope this helps out until we see our green bottles back on the shelf.

After having to go to the hospital for injections of painkillers for migraines, I discovered Excedrine Migraine. It is the only thing that works for me. I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only one who needs Excedrin for their headaches. Because I could not control my last migraine with Excedrin I ended up in the emergency room of the hospital with one of the worst migraine's of my life. Does anyone know when the meds are shipping out?

18 Feb 2012, 00:54
Excedrin Migraine is about the only thing that works on my migraines. Have a prescription that's ment for something else, (muscle relaxant) but found out it works on the really severe migraines when the excedrine fails. Don't particurlarly care to start taking it all the time though. As for chiropractors and the rest...... lets just say they run the other way when they see all the MRI's, CAT Scans, and X-rays of my spine. Even my Neuro-surgeon shies from it. Messed it up really good in the military. Needless to say no one wants to put me in a wheel chair before its absolutely necessary. ie...they touch it, they say I'll never walk again.
So for all of you who think that there's other help.....sometimes.....it's just not possible at this time. Let's not leave out the financial cost of such other things too. Some just can't afford it.
That being said...when is excedrin coming back out. The prescription is messing with my stomach and I really don't like being sleepy all the time.

Well now. I want Excedrin Migraine. I read others comments, and I have to say, I don't really care about other products. Something like MORINGA TREE maybe OK for you, but I'd really like to hear more about what is happening with Excedrin. Have a nice day.

I have been taking Excedrin Migraine since I started having chronic left-side migraines sometime back in the 1980s I think..., that is when the headaches started. I tried more than a few things, but had little positive results.

I've tried Aleve, Ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc., but nothing works for me near as well as the Excedrin Migraine. I've been taking two tablets everyday as a "maintenance dose." Somedays I wind up taking four tablets.

If I take the tablets soon enough, I can reasonably expect to diminish the headaches. Sometimes I have a cup of coffee with my Excedrin Migraine tablets to improve my mood.

Bottom line. When can I expect to see Excedrin Migraine back on the store shelves?

I have used Excedrin for over 20 years to help with my degenerative arthritis, and to date, everything else that I have tried since Excedrin has been taken off the market has not worked, or even come close. I am in extreme pain, with no hope in site. When can I expect Excedrin to be put back on the market, the only thing that has helped me cope. I have had to spinal surgeries, a knee surgery and a wrist surgery for the arthrits, but, without my Excedrin, I am in extreme pain all the time. I need help, NOW!

No need to be rude some of you! Not everything works for everyone. I love the Excedrine for Back and Body even when I get a headache and would love to know about something to replace it until they are back on the shelf. I have a chiropractor who can't help and I don't care for needles so if anyone has any kind suggestions for something that can replace Excedrine for Back and Body, I would welcome the information!

"If you try to treat someone without finding the cause you will only make them sicker"
Nichiren Daishonin (1222-1284)

I can't believe the foolishness of so many of you hungering for Excedrin. I'd go to an acupuncturist or a health professional who utilizes any of the techniques based on acupuncture such as Applied Kinesiology to find the cause and a natural treatment.

MRT,

Please learn to spell simple words (ridiculous) and write something that at least approximates proper English. It makes it hard to take your ranting about ignorance seriously when you can't communicate properly.

I also don't believe that a diety has anything to do with this discussion.

Wal-mart has a generic equivalent under the brand name of "Equate". It's labeled "Extra Strength Headache Relief, Acetaminophen, Aspirin(NSAID) and Caffeine" It's in the exact same proportions as name brand "Excedrin" and has worked just as well for me as Excedrin to prevent my headaches from turning into migraines. I've found other stores to carry an equivalent store brand product, too. Check with the store pharmacist.

Does this mean the companies are going to transfer their production facilities to Mexico, just like all of the others have in the past....com'on, just another excuse to take american jobs away...... ...

16 Feb 2012, 12:30
My advice to everyone is to find a Chiropractor you like & have them examine your neck, where most headaches have their origin. When a D.C. I met 15 years ago cured me of my chronic sinus headaches, I decided to go into chiropractic school. Since graduating, I've been able to get dozens of people off of NSAID drugs like these. Their side effects include stomach ulcers, like the ones that perforated and nearly killed my father, 10 years ago.

I truly miss excedrine on the shelf, wish I had tablets to hoard. It is the only stuff that truly works fast, especially the express can notice a differance within 15 minutes after taking it. Thanks for the warning, but its been awhile. You only take what works the BEST

Extra Strength Excedrin is the only thing that helps with my occasional severe headaches. I would appreciate an estimate as to when they would be available, as I have been hoarding the two pills I have left for a "bad" one and trying to get by with other stuff....that doesn't work near as well
