Lateral collateral ligament (LCL): The ligament that runs along the outside of the knee joint, providing stability to the outer (lateral) part of the knee.
Ligaments: Tough bands of connective tissue that attach bones to bones and help keep them together at a joint.
Lumbar spine: The lower back, composed of five vertebrae.
Lupus: An autoimmune disease that occurs primarily in women and affects many organs and organ systems, including the skin, joints, heart and blood vessels, kidneys and brain.
Lymphocytes: A type of white blood cell involved in the immune system.
