I am a 65 yr old white female diagnosed with RA and OA, Fibro, mild HTN (well controlled),Depression, Multiple Joint Replacements (lt knee, both ankles fused x 2, both shoulders replaced/ now failed, and back fusions x 2/compression fractures, and 2 vertebralplasties), and Chronic Pain. All this has been diagnosed over the past 8 years. My med list looks like a pharmacy inventory sheet! Among other things, I take Plaquenil, Methotrexate, Mobic, Lyrica, Arava, Flexoral, Glucosomine/Chondroitin, Tylenol SR Arthritis, Oxycodone (breakthrough), and Fentanol. The last two are recent exchanges for Morphine Sulfate Continuing Release and MSIR for breakthrough pain (at very heavy doses titrated over several years). I've tried and failed nearly all the DMARDS and still no significant relief of the joint (and especially back) pain. We are now planning to try a morphine pump to avoid having yo increase the narcotic doses. It is difficult to do much "traditional exercise" but I love aquatherapeutic exercises as Rx'd by a Physical Therapist when I am able to get in the pool or our hot tub. I do some active and passive weight lifting and stretching activities every day. I haven't found much information about living with the pump. Any other suggestions? Thank you so much for your thoughtful responses. I am hoping to be able to increase my physical activity and stamina while decreasing the pain.
