I have been getting this very severe pain in my right knee when I drive.
It comes on pretty quickly and once its there is does not go away until I
get out of the car and start walking around. It also does not always
occur, but lately more so than not if I drive at least an hour.
I also had this weird thing happen to my right foot last night. I was in
the kitchn cooking all day (on my feet) and then sat down for dinner with
family. When I got up it felt like there was a giant ball on the bottom of
my foot, top outer ball section. I felt it and it was a alrge lump and I
could barely walk. It's still there now (12 hours later) but not narly as
bad.
Not sure if these are related but both are very perplexing and painful.
Any thoughts?

My husband and I are both having problems with out legs. He has pain and
swelling from his ankles to his knees. His feet have quadrupled in size.
His job requires him to be on his feet all day which just makes all his
symptoms worse. It's like pulling teeth trying to get him to go to the
doctor, but this is bothering him so much he's planning on going today.
We'll see...
I, on the other hand, have been to the doctor and been told I have
fibromyalgia and along with that come other things...For instance,
irritable bowel syndrome. I also have sciatica and arthritis in my lower
back.
For about 2 weeks, my left foot has been numb , however, the top half of my
left leg hurts and feels heavy and weak. Is that related to my pinched
sciatic nerve? Does anyone know what might be wrong with my husband or
myself? There have been so many people dieing around here. Young
people..
It's scary!

I just started getting pain in my left front thigh, knee, and calf. Then
tonight as I've been lying in bed, my right thigh started hurting. If
feels like they're badly bruised (I was limping for some time at work this
evening), however there are no physical signs of bruising.. and I would
remember running into something that hard. I bartend and spend about 50-60
hours/wk on my feet. Related?
Some here have mentioned malnutrition. I have been bulimic for about 4
years, and constantly take weight loss/appetite suppressant pills from
GNC.. but I supplement them with multivitamins.. Just trying to make sure I
don't have some crazy clogged artery or something that will cause me to
just drop one day. Any thoughts?

Phyllis and for others,
After hree months of excruiating pain in knees and running from by thights
to feet I may have found an answer to one of my problems. My legs and
knees swelled with Baker's cysts behind and in front of knees. I have been
to Rheumatologist (ruled out RA), Internal Medicine doctor, Pain Management
doctor, and finally yesterday (at my request) an orthopaedist. The ortho
believes the membranes in both knees are torn. An MRI on Monday may
confirm this. I have experienced the jerking, crawling feeling in both
legs. Ortho said compression on nerves can cause this He said it would be
unusual to have bi-lateral tears but possible.
The onset was sudden after having fusion of two fingers (oesto). I was on
pain meds after that surgery and in spite of some knee pain pushed forward
exasperating the problem with knees until they exploded. The meds masked
the damage I was doing to the knees!
Since the pain was bi-lateral the other doctors did not think knee tear.
So I am hopeful for solving the problem with knees.
Phyllis, you mention pain at finger tips when cold. I have Raynaud's
syndrome. If your fingers get blue between the the two middle joints, feel
numb at the ends, then are suddenly painful (it is the blood returnig to
the tip), it could be Raynaud's. It is not rare but should be mentioned to
Rheumatologist. I have several mild issues of the immune system family.
I am hopeful. Everyone keep searching. Write down everything, ALL
symptoms, ALL tests, even if not seemingly related. Hand it, along with
any medical records, blood tests, etc to all of your doctors. Be proactive
without anger.
My pain has been so severe I found myself looking up amputation as an
answer on the net. Pain will make you crazy. Pain will radiate from an
injured body part to every cell, including your scalp. Serious pain
management is necessary for a while to get you out of the pain loop.
Consider a pain management doctor. Keep searching everyone.

I feel that everything hurts me. My thighs in the front ache, it's hard to
walk and my legs are weak. The other night my knee had been hurting and
swelling, so mu husband put an ice pack on it and this caused my right leg
to jerk for a very long time. I have had numerous surgeries on my joints
(rotator cuffs, trigger fingers, spinal injections),the top of my scalp is
painful if touched, which is weird. When I hold anything cold (freezer
items) my fingertips have pain. I get so dizzy that I throw up and feel as
if my balance is off centered. I am miserable and even though I have been
to several doctors I am still in pain with no relief in sight and I'm tired
of surgeries. I am not crazy, but feel as if I will be headed that way.
What type of doctor should I see? Maybe I am going to the wrong ones. I do
not know.

If you drink coffee or have any other source of caffeine, get off of it.
It steals your vitamins from you, it dehydrates your muscles and joints, to
aching.
Next there are lots of additives in the man made foods. Get off of that
stuff. Eat what God made. Raw fruits and veggies are the best. You can
put a bunch of them in a blender and drink them.
Aspartame is a chemical added to drinks and food. You don't want to eat
that...
What we eat is hurting us and killing us.
our bodies need care, and it starts with health. don't think you can eat
or drink anything and be healthy. educate yourself in health.
eat lots of fruits and veggies that will clean out your system.
Medications?, again educate yourself. You can study the drug and the food
and pick what you want to put in your body.
Get healthy, get nutrition, your body is crying out for it.
just like if you don’t take care of your car, it wont last long, either
will you last long if you don't take care of you.
don’t forget God, He is health. He is your Dad who wants to help you,
but you have to call HIM. His number is 463 4357 63 (God help me) His line
is never busy, He always has time. His wisdom will heal you. so much of
the time we look for a magical zap, but we fail to realize we have a part
in our sickness, or other failing issue. God will give you the answer,
then you have to partake, such as eating healthy.

hello all well were do i start i have had pain in my legs since i was 5 i
would cry because it would hurt so bad. It bothered me in school home
playing but not all the time would it be so intense. it always seemed to be
at night it was worse when i was trying to rest. as i got older i then
started having pains in my back and neck. I started seeing a chiropractor
and he would manipulate my back and i would feel no different. the pain got
so bad in my neck that he tested with a very sharp wheel and found that 3
of my fingers were numb. he sent me to the emergency room and told me to
tell them i needed an MRI of my neck. they found that i had 2 herniated
disk. i ended up having surgery that helped for about a year and then the
problems started again. the first surgery they just removed the disk
material away from the nerves the second time they took the disk material
out and put bone marrow in. I was in more pain ever since that surgery and
have never been able to work again. I was 30 at the time. I have pain from
head to toe and take dilaudid 4mg 4x a day, percocet 5mg 3x a day, lyrica
2x a day for fibromyalgia and muscle relaxers and that just takes the edge
off the pain.i am now 45 years old. i have to sleep in a recliner because
there is only one position that I can sleep in that takes the pressure off
my neck. I have lost all the hair on my legs and i have numbness down both
arms and my legs. I will be walking and i will go to put my right foot down
and i will have no feeling and i fall. i fell down my stairs from about 3/4
of the way because of this. my fingers will lock up and just recently my
toes lock up and i have intense pain down my right leg. I have seen doctors
to try surgery again but no one will do it not even john Hopkins who we
sent my records to. they said there is nothing they can do because scar
tissue and bone spurs will just continue to happen and they wont keep going
back to fix it because they would be doing it every 6 months. i just
learned from my younger sister that a lot of this could be genetic which
could be a connective tissue disorder called marfan syndrome or ehlers
danlos syndrome. these disorders are passed on from generation to
generation and include heart, lung, and other problems besides. Some of u
that have had leg pains since a young age might want to look at your family
history and see if the symptoms you and family members have are caused by
this. my mom had pains in her legs back lung problems emphysema, and then
she had a heart attack so bad that even if there was a team of doctors
there they would have never saved her she was 44. Her mom died of a brain
aneurysm at 47 and her dad of lung cancer he was 77. My 2 uncles died of
emphysema and one of them never smoked. If your problems started when u
were young check this out and talk to a geneticist. I am just getting
started with one but my younger sister just found out that she does have a
connective tissue disorder they just don't know which one yet. Also for
people who have back problems whether you just started or have been
disabled from back problems for years there is a fairly new surgery were
they can make 2 small insisions and repair all the problems from scar
tissue to bone spurs herniated disk detereated disk and they have a 93%
sucsess rate. They are the laser spine institute in philadelphia , pa. and
also in florida. i think they just opened a new one but not sure wwhere.
check them out at laserspineinstitute.com or google it. i hope some of this
information help some of u. God bless.

I have been experiencing leg pain mainly in my calf for a few yrs. It will
only start hurting if it gets too cold or if I walk on a cold floor with no
socks and hurts for hours. I thought it may be arthritis but after reading
this article I'm unsure bc the pain is still there even after walking it
just hurts more.

I've got OA and RA, plus an injury to my left ankle that results in the
left foot/ankle swelling up when I'm on my feet for more than a few hours.
A couple of years ago, I had a bad do with my left leg. Ironically, it was
due to overdoing it when a friend had a fall and despite not being badly
hurt, made a dreadful fuss and had myself and my husband dashing around
after her. my left leg became very swollen, I couldn't weight bear on it,
couldn't put my shoes on, and the pain was excruiciating. Since then, my
left foot and ankle plays up much more than the right and I'm now wondering
if that episode left me with permanent arterial damage.
The friend is now an ex pal, she made a pass at my husband whilst I was
incapacitated!!

Most of the cramping and leg pain are due to lack of the minerals Magnesium
and potassium both of which are easy and cheap to fix. Some medications for
hypertension etc. can deplete the body of thes minerals.
For the potassium just eat a small banana daily, for Magnesium get
Magensuim Flakes ( not the oil it is too expensive and you can make your
own) Look Magnesium on the net on the net and buy in bulk from 2 kilos up
to 5 kilos which will last you a year, or from companies who supply Food
Ingredients to food processors/bakers or any company who adds Vitamins to
food and breads etc.
To use and make megneesium oil mix a 50/50 with hot water,1 cup of water to
1 cup of flakes in a bowl/basin large enough to fit both your feet, let the
water cool and soak feet in it (while watching TV/ Reading a book as long
as it is relaxing for at least 1/2 hour, more is good. Your body will soak
up the Magnesium like a sponge.(To use as an oil have a few cheap stray
bottles handy, one in the shower, one by the side of the toilet and one on
the hand basin in the bathroom) Do this every night before retiring and use
Magnesium as ofter as poss during the day like as a deordant, toilet wipe
after using the loo, spray on body after showering NOT IN THE EYES though,
spray a little on the palms of hands to cool the down in summer, on your
tooth brush with your paste to clean teeth and help gums.
This is a powerful mineral, but it must be Pure Flakes and not tampered
/processed in any way ( why you make your own oil) be it in tablet or
powder form. You can take a small pinch ( as you would salt) in a small
amount of cool NOT ICE COLD water and down fast as it tastes awful follow
with a glass of water, it may give you a painless softer than usual motion.
Just continue with the feet, wipes, deordent and shower spray, you CANNOT
have too much Magneesium like vit. C More is best. My hubby and I have been
using it every day for 5-6 years as you would soap.Good luck

I have Osteoarthritis in my left knee. However the pain is behind my knee
and usually always in my upper thigh sometimes all the way up to my hip.
It feels like it's in the muscle. Can this be something else causing the
pain? I have had exray but no MRI. I've had 3 gel injections that helped
for about 3 months. I'm so afraid of knee replacement and wanting to try
anything else first.

Most of you sound like you should be under the care of a physician, and yet
you don't indicate this. I have been seeing my GP--who keeps up with all
the tests needed when I have my check ups. Then I go to the Pain Clinic in
Albuquerque and see a marvelous doctor who used to give me cortisone shots
every two months.
Then I had an outpatient operation called MILD, which stands for minimally
invasive lumbar decompression. Now I can walk pretty decently, but need a
walker due to a lack of balance, I am using a cane in the meantime. This
operation also allowed me to straighten up quite well, which I could not do
before.
I still have lots of pain so I take GABAPENTIN to manage it, And I cannot
carry a thing in my arms, in the front of my body, so I can't pick up my
grandson.... This hurts. I also used to hike for miles.... But, we all have
to make up our minds to "feel well," in spite of it all: We could be so
much worse!! Good luck and best wishes,
Adriana

In 2008 I had scoping of my left knee possible meniscus tear. Surgery
proved that to be negative. A baker's cyst is in fact present in the back
of my knee since that time. Over the past 2 months the pain in the back of
my knee has now radiated to my calf; feels like a throbbing pain. I'm a
walker but cut down due to the pain. During activity the throbbing gets
worse with a tightening along w/ swelling to my knee. Feels as though I
have a lot of pressure in the back of my knee causing the throbbing
feeling. Can't sleep since it is uncomfortable. Tried warm & cold packs,
anti-inflamatories, soaking, elevation but all w/o success. It is driving
me insane. Specialist only took xrays which proved no signs of
abnormalities in the knee. Diagnosed me w/ at first with syatica then
switched to a calf muscle strain. Personally I think he is incorrect on
both diagnosis as I also think an MRI or CT scan would have been more
sufficient in detecting any possible injuries. He was disinterested in the
baker's cyst, having nothing to say of it. Today I tried Bayer aspirin to
help w/ the throbbing pain & pressure (took 2 325mg aspirins) & much to my
surprise I've found some relief, more so than any other time. My
concern/worry although I am not w/ family history of heart (only uncle on
maternal side) could this be an issue of a possible blockage in my leg?
DVT or PAD? I am not obese, my cholestrol was a little high, B/P has
always been on the low but I do admit I sweat heavily when exercising
(walking) w/ some out of breath moments. The
discomfort/pain/throbbing/pressure doesn't get better while walking it
increasingly gets worse. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

I have been diagnosed with arthritis (orthopedic specialists) in my left
hip and both knees. I had a cortisone shot in my hip – the relief lasted
not quite 2 weeks. I can’t have another one for 3 months. I can hardly
walk, I tend to lose my balance and fall forward. I have always enjoyed
attending my grandchildren’s sports games. It is so painful that I
can’t wait to go home. I am always cold – when everyone in the house is
hot I am freezing. I have tried walking and it gets worse. Could this be
PAD? I am a diabetic; I have high blood pressure (under control with
medicine) and high cholesterol. I have tried cholesterol lowering medicine
and I get cramps in my calves so severe I have to hang on to furniture to
stand up. Any suggestions?

Every time I stand for more than 30 minutes or walk for about 15 minutes,
my legs hurt but after resting awhile I feel better. I try to take pain
pills with no change. Am 37 could I possibly have PAD.
Katelyn
02 Apr 2011, 16:22
Can PAD also cause weird bruising in that same leg that is causing trouble?
I am only 18 but I am very active and it is just the one leg that has been
causing me a lot of pain when I go running and has all of the symptoms
listed above for PAD. I have also noticed that lately I have been getting
unexplained bruising in that same leg. The bruises usually last a while,
but then go away after about a month or so, then a little later another
appears in a different spot. I will go to a doctor if it keeps happening,
but I still would like to have some sort of clue as to what is going on.

Last winter, my teen daughter’s right hip began to feel sever pain that
she cried after sitting in front of her computer for hours. Since all her
MRI and X-rays seemed to be all right, I blamed her for doing too much
computer work, and suggested her to go swimming. Unfortunately, my
daughter doesn’t like to swim. She claimed that she had had the similar
pain several years ago just for a short while. Meanwhile her clinical
physical therapies and Glucosamine don’t seem to help her, now both of
her hips feel hurt frequently, and she limps.
I am so desperate for your advice.

female version of me! Sorry that was a harmless joke I just made up.I try
to stay cheerful through the pain. I know what you are going through and
that is NO JOKE! I will pray for you Suzanne,God bless you and everyone
else here. Yours truly to all of you out there,Rick

Hi, I'm a track girl in highschool I do distance and I did cross-country in
the fall. Now all the sudden when I am running the same workouts or just
run that I did for crowscountry I'm slower and in more pain. The pain that
i am in includes my calf or shine I can't really tell the difference
between them. And I had knee problems during cross-country that I had to
wear kneebraces for. I don't wear the braces for track because they don't
bother me all the time, just when I run hills. But because of my
shines/calfs I can only run like a block at a time. Then I have to walk for
a while. But during cross-country I ran 5 miles at a time. Why am I having
shine/calf problems? Could it be radiating pain from my knees because they
haven't completely healed just stope hurting?

I have had both knees replaced and revisions on both. The last one was done
in 2006. Last year (1/25/10), I developed a pain in my back (left
side,)that radiated to my ankle.
I was diagnosed with an inflamed disc pressing on a nerve. I have had to
walk with the use of a walker since, now to date(3/6/11, with no
improvement. A few weeks ago I started having swellings in both ankles with
unbearable pain radiating from my ankles up half ways to my knees on the
bone (fibula I think) of both legs. It is tolerable in a sitting position,
but cannot sleep in a lying down or legs extended position. When I explain
it to my orthopedic Drs, they xray the joints of the knees and ankles, but
never the bone where the pain is and diagnose it as arthritis. NSAIDS make
my stomach hurt with extended use and the pain medications do not help the
pain.

Hi, i am in need of some help. My legs, lower back and hips hurt me all the
time but my legs ache and hurt the worse. I am in alot of pain all the time
i dont want to walk to get anything done and when i do chores i rush to get

i may have PAD but im not sure my doctors dont seem to take me seriously
and i just dont know what to do anymore. They just ache and hurt all the
time. Now my back does cause me lots of pain because i have 3 ruputured
discs but i dont think thats the problem idk? I do not take any pain meds
because afraid of getting addicted. Can someone plz help me with this

Ok so I'm only 14 and my pain has been happening since I was like 6. It's
the worst feeling in the world and it only happens when my foot feels cold,
but not everytime I'm cold. It's could be either calf and foot, the pain is
unbearable, and when I get it in school it can be very disruptive for me. I
always thought it was of some aspect normal because my mother never took me
to the doctor for it but just told me to apply icy-hot to it, which takes
away the pain. But I am not looking forwad to always putting icy-hot on my
foot everytime it's in that condition, I'd rather know what I can do to
prevent it. I don't think it's diabetes because I hardly eat sweets. And
I'm too young to have anything seriously wrong with me. Please help if you
might have an understanding of whats going on.

For the past 2 months I have been having pain in my right ankle (it comes &
goes). Naturally I'm thinking some form of arthritis. I am now having pain
that feels like shin splints (have not injured leg or strained). I have
very tender spots around my knee with some swelling. Pain also in my calve
area and alittle swelling around ankle. It hurts more if not using leg and
its not getting better. Heat/cold application no help. X-ray normal. What
is wrong with me. Family hx of leg issues and RA on both sides.

OMG i been reading some of these comments and some sound just like i have
been... my story: early 20's i got heel spurs and plantar fasciitis, i got
5 injections and a year of physio it took 2-3 years to go down but can
still play up when walking heaps. i was on bruffen for 15 years and then
they stopped it about 4 years ago. then soon after i stopped taking them i
started to get pain in back hip knee ankle and foot. Recently i demanded
the dr do something i have had many xrays, ct, ultrasounds in the past
years the Dr's have said im a drug seeker or they give me mini mentals
cause im depressed from time to time probley the pain or im snappy when
they say have panadol. in the last 3 weeks i have been diagnosed PVD with
stenosis of 75% left and 50% to the common ilica arterys, i have poor
muscels in the gluts and left leg i have hammer toes i have athritis in the
MTP joint and flat feet. i have been getting pins and needles numness and
discolouring in the feet. im now going to physio for back Sports
Physiotherapist said the ilium is moving due to poor muscles tone hence
pain in the back and hip, padiotrist strapped my arch and it helped alot...
the pain in the back and hip and im walking with out a limp now that was
with only one week of strapping, most of the pain in ankle is still there
at night tho still awaiting on test xray, ultrasound are all good no
abnormality is noted tentons are good no ganglion synovial thickening or
futher pathology noted. awaiting to see the dr again to see if they can
find what is wrong.. but dont give up guys keep looking because it affects
your whole life i dont sleep more the 2 hours at a time the pain is hard to
describ i call it my tooth ache in my legs lol... i hope any one can help
here or i hope to help others if i didnt complain i wouldnt even know i had
PVD even tho a xray said about 3 years ago to look at my aortic artery and
i have had high cholestrol for 4 years now.. was on tablets once then they
took them of me after a few weeks.. why DR's do that i dont know... my
advise find a Dr that is going to get to the root of the problem. my tooth
ache in my ankle is still as bad as before im so tired of it so so tired of
pain

in 1993 i started getting a dull ache in my left ankle, it usually kept me
up at night. Over the years the pain has moved up to my calf, then my knee,
then my thigh and now its in my left buttock and up into my left side. it
prevents sleep, its not as painful as it is annoying. When the sensation
starts it starts with a crack in the ankle then it will move up my leg and
butt. I try and explain this to people and also three doctors. They have
ruled out restless leg syndrom because its only one leg. When it happens i
just want to cut my leg off. It used to only bother me at night but now i
have what i call "dead leg" 24 hours a day. I'm beyond frustrated. I need
help

I have been experiencing pain in my knees, that will go down to my calfs on
both of my legs. I cannot sit, stand, lay down, bend my knees, walk, go up
and down steps without causing pain with each and every step I take.
Furthermore, I have tried soaking in the tub, heat pads, taking pain pills
but nothing works and nothing so far has eased pain. Can someone help me
and tell me what is wrong with me? Because, I feel like I am losing my
ability to move around freely and I feel like I am going to need a wheel
chair in order to get around if this keeps up.

My right ankle and up my leg about 10 inches or so is killing me when I
walk. It just started one day and I find if I elevate my leg the pain
subsides. I can not keep my leg elevated all the time as i am a caregiver
and very busy. I have had to obtain a cane to walk with because the pain
is so terrible or otherwise I could not walk at all. What do I need to do
about this? Is it PAD or circulation? I have enlarged verocoise veins in
my footand ankle area.

Umm... I don't understand anything because Im only 11 and turning 12 on the
19th of this February, at first the pain started at field day at school, so
I thought that it hurt cause of the running, and all then other
games/sports. I am a bit overweight for my age. The next day nit still
hurt. I can't walk, run, sit, stand up, go up and down the stairs and it
hurts so much! I'm guessing that all the running I did the next day at
school didn't help? What's worse is I can't stand for long without pain. My
knees hurt so much! Tomorrow Im getting it checked but before that any
help?

I have been having an aching pain from my hips to my ankles at night. I
toss and turn all night. If I lay flat it doesnt hurt as bad but I usually
dont sleep on my back. Once I'm up and walking around for a few minutes it
then subsides. This has been going on for awhile but lately getting worse.
I dont know if its age related (I'm 44), the bed, work (I'm an ER Nurse)?

Wow I can not believe so many of us have leg pain! I've been looking into
toxins, where they are. What are they doing to me and all of us? Think
about it we are hurting from something. Do research on toxins in our
foods, toxins in mostly all products you can think of from plastic to beds
which are all biggies. I have been sick off and on, mostly all the time for
15+ yrs. I got tired of it and started researching why. Someone told me
about alternative medicine which led me to look into the toxins in food
first, then into environments. They all make my legs, hands, arms,my whole
body ache, toxins that is. Most recent is my toxic bed. Now looking for a
new one that is safe to breath on!I also think I may have some blockage in
my leg at the same time. I got up one day 1 1/2 yrs. ago with a itchy leg
and then turned black and blue from scratching. Then it began to hurt and
has not stopped since and seems to be getting worse. Doc says nothing is
wrong. I do not believe her. I have to find out what is wrong before
something bad does happen. Good luck to us all in this.

*IMPORTANT*
Plavix keeps the platelets from sticking, but damages the bottom of the
heart. 1) Mix 1 tsp. Apple Cider Vinegar w/ 1 tbl. of Honey to clean
arteries like a baby. 2) Order Circulation Solution from
www.healthresources.net in AL. It does wonders! My Dad had PAD and was on a
medication for circulation. I do all natural NO drugs. Email me if I can
be of assistance.

Wow....I am an LPN and I can't believe the answers another LPN has posted
here! Telling someone, or assuming that a persons pain in the bone is from
their previous hx of ca is ridiculous and far out of your scope. Just
because your late husband was unfortunate and this happened to him, does
not mean that is what is wrong with that womans husband! We are NOT trained
and are NOT allowed by law to make assumptions/dx whether from experience
or maybe from CE courses. That comment just blew my mind when I read it!
Please, please do not listen to people like her...go see someone that is
educated and legally allowed to make a diagnosis!! In Arizona, that comment
and assumption she made could cause her to lose her license....so
ridiculous!! Those are the nurses that need to keep their opinions, because
that is all they are, to them selves!
Juli
29 Aug 2010, 00:34
Well, I see no medical person has answered your complaints. I am a
nurse---an LPN. I'll try to help you figure out what's causing your leg
pain. I"m not supposed to diagnose, or treat, but I can tell you what it
sound's like based on some of my patient's diagnoses and some of my own
leg problems.
When you have pain behind the knee, it's bursitis. Sometimes it can be
on kneecap or one that bone under it.ANd it can get swollen up and need to
be drained.
Pain starting in the buttocks or back and going down the leg is sciatica
Chronic pain on the head of the hip bone which really hurts when you lie
on that side is bursitis---trochanteric bursitis. Sometimes a hot whirlpool
and Phy Therapy helps. Also, this kind of pain can go down the side of that
leg , adn it's called bursitis of the isheal-tibial band, which is a long,
wide, tendon that goes down the side of your leg from your hip bone to
your ankle.
Diaetes can cause foot and leg pain. It's called diabetic neuropothy. It
means the nerves in your legs hurt.
A warmth , swelling adn redness of your leg could mean a blood
clot.Go to your Dr. right away , or to the ER .
To Janet, the lady who's husb has lung cancer and now bad pain in his
legs. The cancer has prob gone to his bones. That's what happened to my
late husb . His bladder cancer had gone to his bones, and it never occured

Pain on the bottom of your feet can be planters facsitis.Sometimes
putting a leather arch or padding in your shoe helps. ANd getting those
running shoes that have springs in teh heal portion really helped a friend
of mine. I suggested that he get them, and it gave him his life back
Pain on the inner part of your shin is shin spints, that comes from
running, or fast walking, or a start and stop twisting type of walking
---like us nurses do when we're passing meds, and run to every other
patient to help them with their prob, or running back to the desk to answer
the phone,etc.

Is posting my complaint, of pain on here, supposed to be the therapy
itself? I don't see any responses. I have had a sharp stabbing pain in my
left thigh for about two months now, that comes on when I lift my leg up to
go up the stairs or put my socks and pants on. It is very difficult to
pinpoint the location of the pain. When I drive, there is a severe aching
pain from my hip to my foot on the same leg - and it's getting worse. 2
months of chiropractor adjustments have not accomplished anything.

Go and make an appointment with the osteopath, or physio, i dont like
chiropractors very much but i am sure half your problems comes from your
lower back .
Years ago i felt the back of my knees were swollen and felt i had been run
over by a truck or been running a marathon. The specialist at the hospital
thought severing the nerve in my groin area would help. I ran a mile. Then
i went to see the Oeteopath where i lived in New Zealand. one treatment
with him did the trick. I asked him afterwards should i go back for more
treatment , he said not, just to given him a ring the following morning
to see how i felt , otherwise if he did the same again he could undo what
he had just done, 40years later im ok. give it a go. The treatment is only
a non painful manupilation of the lower back, and while you lie flat on
your back with knees bent both feet on the bed , with both arms pull your
knees to your chest, hold for the count of 15 maybe and relax and keep the
lower back flat on the bed when you do this exercise.( He or she will show
you how you can do it at home)
But before that bit he has to do his bit by adjusting the lower back ,good
luck.

Why does my knee hurt when i walk, it's so bad i am having difficulty
bending it,and when i walk my leg seems to not want to bend even though I
tell it too. But when i squeeze at the top of my thigh the pain goes away
and i can bend my knee
The Doctors blame the pain on arthritics but i feel that it is more than
this. All the doctors do is give antidepressants
Can anyone help.

worse as I've gotten older. Heaviness, aching muscles, worn out feeling

Hi Guys Hope you are doing good. Well i have seen no answers to all the
questions that have been posted.
Well i have had the same problem of my left leg from the left butt. and i
have got some solutions after suffering for 5-6 years. It worked for me but
am not sure it will work for you. Guess it will do the same (od will.
The solution to this is to relax and stretch out the piriformis muscle as
this will also reduce the pain of the low back. Recommendations would
include massage and heat to the area which is at the buttock and stretching
of the muscle itself.
Piriformis stretching: sitting on the floor both legs straight forward.
Cross the left leg over the right leg making a "4" position (the left ankle
is right above the right knee cap). Grab the right leg as you bend the
right knee toward your chest and lie on your back on the floor. As you
pull the right knee to your chest, you should feel a "burning" sensation at
the left buttock which is good. Hold the position for about 30 to 40
seconds for the piriformis to loosen up. To get more stretch, while in the
same position, push the left knee downward away from your body and try to
get it to flush with the right knee. This should induce more stretching to
the piriformis muscle. You can do this as often as you like.
(Pregnant women you might seek more advise on this)
Cheers

I admit I sit constantly on my bed or lie on my bed online from the moment
I wake til I go to bed or unless Im at work. I'm 37 year old female with a
15 yo son who kind of does the same thing.
Just yesterday at my job (mcdonalds) I was sitting on break and got a sharp
severe breath stealing stabbing pain in my upper thigh right where my groin
crease is. i looked on line later and it's where the femoral and iliad (?)
artery meet. It happened once more at work an hour later. Then was gone
til I got in the car to come home. It happened lightly to let me know it
was still there.
Now it's 3 hours after work, 3am and the pain comes (like earlier, with NO
warning) and it makes me cry out.
I'm a little scared. Do you think it's a clot?

I have severe pain in my right leg runs from my hip to the bottom of my
foot. Feels heavy, hurts more if I sit for to long or stand, walk etc.
Sounds like it might be PAD, what is the test called and what type of
doctor would I need to see. If I have PAD what are the treatments that
would not include taking a prescription medication. Is there an exercise
that will treat PAD? Thank you for your time.

I am having some severe pain in the back of both of my legs. It goes all
the way from my butt to both of my heels. I can't afford to go to the
doctors so all I have been able to do is take aspirin. The aspirin helps
very little. I normally walk a minimum of 5 miles a day witch never makes
me soar. The pain I am feeling is way beyond a soar anyway. I have have
done nothing out of my normal routine to have caused such severe pain. I
also have not injured myself in any way. It has only been 3 days since the
pain has started but is has been nonstop. I can not sleep because it hurts
the most lying down. It seems the only time the pain isn't severe is when I
am standing up. The pain increases when I try to walk though. Any advice
would be a help thank you.

I have severe severe pain in my left buttock or hip that starts about 1hr.
Into my sleep and last about an hour.i have to flip and flop all night to
keep the pain from being so severe it is only in my left hip and started
while I was wearing a cast on my left arm for a bad broken wrist The whole
6 weeks that I wore the cast and 3 weeks after my arm ,wrist and hand were
severly swollen like cast was way too tight. I am basically healthy and 52
years old I am not over weight and just had bone mass study and that
pointed out nothing that could cause this kind of pain . I feed 60 horses
twice a day with five gallon buckets and lift the buckets from the ground
up to the top of the troughs . Could this be too much stress on my hip
joints and cause this pain or did the cast mess with my circulation or cod
I have pad I have no redness or swelling. I just started taking
glucosamine, chondroitin& msm doesn't really seem to help. Please help I

the pains I have are on the outside of my hips and thighs, can only sleep
on each side about 1 1/2 hrs, & the pains are too much to bear. At times
the pains will pop up below the knee or on the shin bone, either leg.
Walking is difficult, my lower back and out towards my hips feels like a
vice is tightening up my lower back, where I can't move or stand. I have
been on cholestrol meds for 20 yrs. My lab report reads that I have
inflamation going on somewhere in my body. These pains have been getting
worse for almost a yr. The Dr. says take advil or aleeve, they will do
less harm then a perscription will do. A month ago, my left leg, just went
limp and I almost fell, if I didn't catch myself by falling into the
counter.

Hi TRACY, i can tell you that i get same experience like you. my right leg
(back side) had extreme pain for 2 months staight. i didn't have any
insurance to go to the medical doc (probably that saved me!). anyway, long
story short, i visited a chinese doctor in NYC (Dr. Jack, who's a monk)and
he ensured me that my pain is from circulatory problems. it was like when i
seat or try to use my right leg, i feel the pain in my vein or arteries
(like it tearing up). my chinese doc diagnose right, but couldn't reduce my
pain. i was feeling extreme stress, 'cause i'm in my thirties and i didn't
know anyone like me had this type of pain. out of desperation, i started to
eat rotten meat (grass fed beef). the first day, after took a small tiny
ball, my pain was gone. since that day, now i'm eating rotten meat for the
past 3 months and i don't feel that pain anymore.

Three days ago, I feel deep pain on the left pelvic area in the evening.
The next day, pain was still there and it became difficut to walk as if I
can't carry my weight. The following day, it got worth and it was extremely
difficut to walk. When I try to sit or stand and to bend my upper body. It
was hard to even move side ways much less walking. What causes such
discomfort and pain?

I am 58 years old and a little overweight. To lose the weight I have
taken up walking and have also started a training programm called couch to
10k in 13 weeks. I walk or job 30 - 40 miles per week. When walking,
although I suffer from what feels like tightening of the muscles up the
front of the thigh, now I am suffering a lot after my exercise and the
pains through my legs are stopping me sleeping. The pains are not static,
they appear to move about in my legs. I also have stabbing pains in my
toes and pains down my shins. So much for trying to get fit. I never
thought it would cause me so much pain.
Am I doing too much or is this something a little more sinister.

I have severe spondiliostesis in my lower back as well as severe
osteoarthritis in both my knees.
For the past 15 years I also have been very obese at 130Kgs for 179cms in
height.
For the past two years I have had severe pains in the back of my legs and
calfs and when I walk for about 30 minutes I feel that my legs weight a
tonne and I can barely walk or lift my legs; after sitting down for a while
it gets a little better;
At night my legs are always cold and i do not seem to be able to warm them
and I constantly have to move them to attempt to get better.
My specialist suggest that it is caused by my knee and I am fed up in
hearing there suggestions as I know the pain to be very different from one
another.
can someone help me to diagnose accurately my problems?

My feet pain when I get up in the mornings. Battle to walk at first. Gets
better after a while. I have lower back pain and get alot of megrains.
Sometimes 2-3 a week. In the afternoons my legs hurt and becomes lazy.
feels like I have to drag them. They hurt alot then. I am overweight and
battle to loose weight. Feels like I am keeping water. My feet swells up
when I sit.I am tired of the pain. And have constant heartburn of the pain
pills.(I really try not to drink painpills) Dr's says its in my head.
I wasnt overweight when it all started 4 years in my lower back. At that
time I couldnt sleep because my hips and legs burned. I had a vibrate
feeling between my legs and it moved to my feet. The dr's gave me 9
injections in my back for the pain. and other dr's gave me strong
injections for my megrains. since then I have picked up weight. I have
constant infections. Help me please....the dr's dont know what to do with
me.

I had a tension type string pain inside my right thigh. Then when I tried
to get up or down I would experience a shocking tearing feeling down the
inside of my right calf on to my ankle. This has happened all day. I have
been in the Hospital for nerve dammage from solvent exposure at my shop. I
also have a very swollen prostate for years. Do my symptoms seem in line
with these conditions where I should go back for further testing? I'm
tired of the hospital.

Folks don't forget that hip and back problems can cause pain in your legs.
If you suffer with slipped or bulging discs they may rub against the nerve
endings for your legs muscles and cause pain.

i m 30,female with a 6 yr kid.i m having leg pain since past 2yrs, which
began with my eczemza when it got very severe over especially legs, and
that also showed some varicoses then, this is now much less by homeopathic
treatment without using any external applications. but the pain in legs
persists, much less though, typically coming on when i rest, hang my legs, r
stand still, or do rapid leg movements,as if legs are too heavy to move.
one side is more affected, esp the ankles when i stand, as if they are
suddenly filled with something.when i sit,the points on calf or ankle or
sole suddenly squeeze for few seconds, unbearably.also the eczema is more on
the legs than elsewhere by 50%, yielding little to the best of homeopathic
medicines, which have given rest of the skin a new life.
could my condition be reversible, and by what measures, i want to live a
normal hectic active life- please help.

My legs get extremely tired when I shop. It is worse at night, when I lie
down to sleep, my legs feel hot and achey, I move my legs to a cool spot on
the sheets, but it isn't long before I have to find a cooler place and this
keeps up for hours. Once, I got in the tub and turned on cold water and
soaked my legs til they cooled off. Another symtom is when I get down on
the floor to exercise or for any reason, getting back up is difficult
because I get sharp cramps in my calves and thighs. What is the reason for
these problems? Ps........I am 72, no history of arthritis.

20+ years ago I was struck by a car crossing a street. The bumper of the
car struck my knee caps and I had surgery on both knees. Arthitis has
kicked in; however, past couple weeks, right leg from knee down is becoming
very painful. Sharp, dull aching pain. Not all the time, but when it
kicks in, it is becoming very painful. I have had crotizon shots in the
past years, but nothing recently. Any suggestions if this could be
something different or just a long term problem.

For about 3 weeks I have had nagging, sometimes severe pain in my upper
right leg. From aching to sharp. Does not hurt as bad when moving most of
the time, but can't stand still, like in a line a grocery store or when I'm
blowing hair dry. Almost becaome unbearable. Also hurts, almost like a
pull in hamstring area when reaching up. Sure could use some advice.
About 5 years ago I fell down hill on to cart path golfing landing on my
buttom. Severe pain and rectal pressure like I've never known. Recovered
OK but was never checked out. Could this possibly be the cause now.

I have a pain (not horrible but more nagging and worrisome) that began near
my ankle and has now progress up my left leg to my thigh. It comes and goes
but I am not sure what it is. I am considerably healthy. I walk 4-5 times a
week for 30-60 minutes each. Non smoker, non drinker but having these
issues. I have gained 10 lbs over the summer and think that may have
something to do with it, but I am not heavy at all so I dont see where that
would be an issue. I told my Dr. but she just blamed it on the high heels.
Any other suggestions?

I am 82 and expect to have a few pains but this one seems to be appearing
more often, at night. The pain originates in the ankle area and extends
upward. Sometimes only one leg is affected, sometimes both.
Another pain starts in my groin and goes down to my knee where it seems to
go inward behind my knee. I have been tested for a blood clot in that area
but none was found.
I treat these pains with heat and that seems to help.
I have had surgery for a herniated disk.
Standing still causes pain in my hip area.
My ability to walk for any distance is now causing more pain and fatigue.
Thank you for being here. What type of doctor should I see?

pain is much more frequent, this is concerning me. I've talked with my PCP

legs. He says the calves of his legs are real sore as though he has had
charlie horses. The areas above the knee are so weak he cannot squat and he

causing this pain. It began with severe muscle cramps in the calves of his
legs. His Cardiologist stopped his cholesterol medicine for two weeks and
the cramps seemed to lessen. Can you recommend what we should do.

I am not sure about the so called pain. It feels like burning behind my
knee and up the thigh area. Dr. has me on anti inflamitory meds but I am
only to take them at night. The so called pain is all the time not just at
night. It burns when I put any pressure against the out side of the knee
also. I have ordered the PAD information but that will take 4 weeks. Any

Like so many others, it appears, I have the most terrible pain in my right
leg in two locations, top rightand around the knee.
I thought it was a trapped nerve, might still be, but I am getting
increasingly worried about this.
Walking is a nightmare now and lying in bed is alos as it is difficuly to
find peace and relief from the pain.
I first noticed this some months ago when I just had a slight jabbing pain
top right but hese last few weeks it has become really bad.
It's a tingling sensation when I sit but very painful when I walk although
mentally telling myself to relax the leg does make it a little easier to
walk.
What is the answer and cure for this, walking or resting or tablets or

My right knee, upper outside thigh and lower leg, sometimes going down to
my ankle hurt. I feel outside about a month ago and has hurt ever since.
I went to the hospital, the doctor just check my knee and ankle to see if I
could move it okay and it seemed to be fine to him. They didn't take an
Xray though. He said it's probably ostero arthritus. It is still hurting,
and sometimes just takes my breath away. I have a high pain tolerance and
I'm getting a little worried. What could it be, what should I do.

I've had problems with my right leg for years now. I kinda thought it might
be arthritis, but I'm not sure. I have a heaviness about my entire right
leg. It has some swelling that not very noticable. During pregancy(6yrs ago
and during other pregancies), I experienced times when my leg would just
give out/go limp completely for no reason. The pain used to only occur when
the weather changed. Now its all the time. It's bearable, but also
bothersome. Pain is located inside the leg from right thigh all the way to
foot. Sometimes, I'm scared to wear heels because I'm scared that my ankle
will give out. Pain seems to be more bothersome when I'm laying down and
rarely goes away. My right leg always feel heavier then the other one. Any
suggestion on what I may be experiencing would be great. What kind of
specialist should I seek out regarding my symptons?
Thanks

What kind of doctor should I see to get tested for PAD?? I have been
diagnosed with RA, but the pain in my feet is migrating up into my ankles
and lower leg. Thanks.
i feel it is kind of blood flow or something else, also i have noticed that it does not happen for months if i do some exercises, physical activity.
Is it something to do with my vain or bones
Now i get pain in left Knee upper leg only during night when i am lying down Sitting in the bed with back upright is completely pain free. some movements while walking on uneven surface and steep down a ramp are very painful at Left knee
I fail to understand why the pain is worse during night in lying down position and can involve whole leg up to the groin area
Please help
I also had this weird thing happen to my right foot last night. I was in the kitchn cooking all day (on my feet) and then sat down for dinner with family. When I got up it felt like there was a giant ball on the bottom of my foot, top outer ball section. I felt it and it was a alrge lump and I could barely walk. It's still there now (12 hours later) but not narly as bad.
Not sure if these are related but both are very perplexing and painful. Any thoughts?
I, on the other hand, have been to the doctor and been told I have fibromyalgia and along with that come other things...For instance, irritable bowel syndrome. I also have sciatica and arthritis in my lower back.
For about 2 weeks, my left foot has been numb , however, the top half of my left leg hurts and feels heavy and weak. Is that related to my pinched sciatic nerve? Does anyone know what might be wrong with my husband or myself? There have been so many people dieing around here. Young people..
It's scary!
Some here have mentioned malnutrition. I have been bulimic for about 4 years, and constantly take weight loss/appetite suppressant pills from GNC.. but I supplement them with multivitamins.. Just trying to make sure I don't have some crazy clogged artery or something that will cause me to just drop one day. Any thoughts?
After hree months of excruiating pain in knees and running from by thights to feet I may have found an answer to one of my problems. My legs and knees swelled with Baker's cysts behind and in front of knees. I have been to Rheumatologist (ruled out RA), Internal Medicine doctor, Pain Management doctor, and finally yesterday (at my request) an orthopaedist. The ortho believes the membranes in both knees are torn. An MRI on Monday may confirm this. I have experienced the jerking, crawling feeling in both legs. Ortho said compression on nerves can cause this He said it would be unusual to have bi-lateral tears but possible.
The onset was sudden after having fusion of two fingers (oesto). I was on pain meds after that surgery and in spite of some knee pain pushed forward exasperating the problem with knees until they exploded. The meds masked the damage I was doing to the knees!
Since the pain was bi-lateral the other doctors did not think knee tear.
So I am hopeful for solving the problem with knees.
Phyllis, you mention pain at finger tips when cold. I have Raynaud's syndrome. If your fingers get blue between the the two middle joints, feel numb at the ends, then are suddenly painful (it is the blood returnig to the tip), it could be Raynaud's. It is not rare but should be mentioned to Rheumatologist. I have several mild issues of the immune system family.
I am hopeful. Everyone keep searching. Write down everything, ALL symptoms, ALL tests, even if not seemingly related. Hand it, along with any medical records, blood tests, etc to all of your doctors. Be proactive without anger.
My pain has been so severe I found myself looking up amputation as an answer on the net. Pain will make you crazy. Pain will radiate from an injured body part to every cell, including your scalp. Serious pain management is necessary for a while to get you out of the pain loop. Consider a pain management doctor. Keep searching everyone.
Next there are lots of additives in the man made foods. Get off of that stuff. Eat what God made. Raw fruits and veggies are the best. You can put a bunch of them in a blender and drink them.
Aspartame is a chemical added to drinks and food. You don't want to eat that...
What we eat is hurting us and killing us.
our bodies need care, and it starts with health. don't think you can eat or drink anything and be healthy. educate yourself in health.
eat lots of fruits and veggies that will clean out your system.
Medications?, again educate yourself. You can study the drug and the food and pick what you want to put in your body.
Get healthy, get nutrition, your body is crying out for it.
just like if you don’t take care of your car, it wont last long, either will you last long if you don't take care of you.
don’t forget God, He is health. He is your Dad who wants to help you, but you have to call HIM. His number is 463 4357 63 (God help me) His line is never busy, He always has time. His wisdom will heal you. so much of the time we look for a magical zap, but we fail to realize we have a part in our sickness, or other failing issue. God will give you the answer, then you have to partake, such as eating healthy.

The friend is now an ex pal, she made a pass at my husband whilst I was incapacitated!!
For the potassium just eat a small banana daily, for Magnesium get Magensuim Flakes ( not the oil it is too expensive and you can make your own) Look Magnesium on the net on the net and buy in bulk from 2 kilos up to 5 kilos which will last you a year, or from companies who supply Food Ingredients to food processors/bakers or any company who adds Vitamins to food and breads etc.
To use and make megneesium oil mix a 50/50 with hot water,1 cup of water to 1 cup of flakes in a bowl/basin large enough to fit both your feet, let the water cool and soak feet in it (while watching TV/ Reading a book as long as it is relaxing for at least 1/2 hour, more is good. Your body will soak up the Magnesium like a sponge.(To use as an oil have a few cheap stray bottles handy, one in the shower, one by the side of the toilet and one on the hand basin in the bathroom) Do this every night before retiring and use Magnesium as ofter as poss during the day like as a deordant, toilet wipe after using the loo, spray on body after showering NOT IN THE EYES though, spray a little on the palms of hands to cool the down in summer, on your tooth brush with your paste to clean teeth and help gums.
This is a powerful mineral, but it must be Pure Flakes and not tampered /processed in any way ( why you make your own oil) be it in tablet or powder form. You can take a small pinch ( as you would salt) in a small amount of cool NOT ICE COLD water and down fast as it tastes awful follow with a glass of water, it may give you a painless softer than usual motion. Just continue with the feet, wipes, deordent and shower spray, you CANNOT have too much Magneesium like vit. C More is best. My hubby and I have been using it every day for 5-6 years as you would soap.Good luck
Thank you.
Then I had an outpatient operation called MILD, which stands for minimally invasive lumbar decompression. Now I can walk pretty decently, but need a walker due to a lack of balance, I am using a cane in the meantime. This operation also allowed me to straighten up quite well, which I could not do before.
I still have lots of pain so I take GABAPENTIN to manage it, And I cannot carry a thing in my arms, in the front of my body, so I can't pick up my grandson.... This hurts. I also used to hike for miles.... But, we all have to make up our minds to "feel well," in spite of it all: We could be so much worse!! Good luck and best wishes,
Adriana

I am 27 years old, recently I started doing running. On the first day, I feel some pain in both the legs, an ordinary one. I keep on doing running in the following days. I always felt pain after my all workouts in my legs ( more in right leg). After 8-10 days I quit running as now the pain is unbearable. And it continues while i walks also. I was diagnosed with an inflamed disc pressing on a nerve. I have had to walk with the use of a walker since, now to date(3/6/11, with no improvement. A few weeks ago I started having swellings in both ankles with unbearable pain radiating from my ankles up half ways to my knees on the bone (fibula I think) of both legs. It is tolerable in a sitting position, but cannot sleep in a lying down or legs extended position. When I explain it to my orthopedic Drs, they xray the joints of the knees and ankles, but never the bone where the pain is and diagnose it as arthritis. NSAIDS make my stomach hurt with extended use and the pain medications do not help the pain.
I have tried cream and nothing seems to work.
Please can you advise?
it seems to be in everything medicines fast food drinks

Plavix keeps the platelets from sticking, but damages the bottom of the heart. 1) Mix 1 tsp. Apple Cider Vinegar w/ 1 tbl. of Honey to clean arteries like a baby. 2) Order Circulation Solution from www.healthresources.net in AL. It does wonders! My Dad had PAD and was on a medication for circulation. I do all natural NO drugs. Email me if I can be of assistance.

Chronic pain on the head of the hip bone which really hurts when you lie on that side is bursitis---trochanteric bursitis. Sometimes a hot whirlpool and Phy Therapy helps. Also, this kind of pain can go down the side of that leg , adn it's called bursitis of the isheal-tibial band, which is a long, wide, tendon that goes down the side of your leg from your hip bone to your ankle.
Diaetes can cause foot and leg pain. It's called diabetic neuropothy. It means the nerves in your legs hurt.
A warmth , swelling adn redness of your leg could mean a blood clot.Go to your Dr. right away , or to the ER .
To Janet, the lady who's husb has lung cancer and now bad pain in his legs. The cancer has prob gone to his bones. That's what happened to my late husb . His bladder cancer had gone to his bones, and it never occured to his Drs, till he had to ask for a bone scan himself.
Pain on the bottom of your feet can be planters facsitis.Sometimes putting a leather arch or padding in your shoe helps. ANd getting those running shoes that have springs in teh heal portion really helped a friend of mine. I suggested that he get them, and it gave him his life back
Pain on the inner part of your shin is shin spints, that comes from running, or fast walking, or a start and stop twisting type of walking ---like us nurses do when we're passing meds, and run to every other patient to help them with their prob, or running back to the desk to answer the phone, etc.

Years ago i felt the back of my knees were swollen and felt i had been run over by a truck or been running a marathon. The specialist at the hospital thought severing the nerve in my groin area would help. I ran a mile. Then i went to see the Oeteopath where i lived in New Zealand. one treatment with him did the trick. I asked him afterwards should i go back for more treatment , he said not, just to given him a ring the following morning to see how i felt , otherwise if he did the same again he could undo what he had just done, 40years later im ok. give it a go. The treatment is only a non painful manupilation of the lower back, and while you lie flat on your back with knees bent both feet on the bed , with both arms pull your knees to your chest, hold for the count of 15 maybe and relax and keep the lower back flat on the bed when you do this exercise.( He or she will show you how you can do it at home)
But before that bit he has to do his bit by adjusting the lower back ,good luck.
The Doctors blame the pain on arthritics but i feel that it is more than this. All the doctors do is give antidepressants
Can anyone help.
Well i have had the same problem of my left leg from the left butt. and i have got some solutions after suffering for 5-6 years. It worked for me but am not sure it will work for you. Guess it will do the same (od will.
The solution to this is to relax and stretch out the piriformis muscle as this will also reduce the pain of the low back. Recommendations would include massage and heat to the area which is at the buttock and stretching of the muscle itself.
Piriformis stretching: sitting on the floor both legs straight forward. Cross the left leg over the right leg making a "4" position (the left ankle is right above the right knee cap). Grab the right leg as you bend the right knee toward your chest and lie on your back on the floor. As you pull the right knee to your chest, you should feel a "burning" sensation at the left buttock which is good. Hold the position for about 30 to 40 seconds for the piriformis to loosen up. To get more stretch, while in the same position, push the left knee downward away from your body and try to get it to flush with the right knee. This should induce more stretching to the piriformis muscle. You can do this as often as you like.
(Pregnant women you might seek more advise on this)

Just yesterday at my job (mcdonalds) I was sitting on break and got a sharp severe breath stealing stabbing pain in my upper thigh right where my groin crease is. i looked on line later and it's where the femoral and iliad (?) artery meet. It happened once more at work an hour later. Then was gone til I got in the car to come home. It happened lightly to let me know it was still there.
Now it's 3 hours after work, 3am and the pain comes (like earlier, with NO warning) and it makes me cry out.
I'm a little scared. Do you think it's a clot?
Cindy

For the past 15 years I also have been very obese at 130Kgs for 179cms in height.
For the past two years I have had severe pains in the back of my legs and calfs and when I walk for about 30 minutes I feel that my legs weight a tonne and I can barely walk or lift my legs; after sitting down for a while it gets a little better;
At night my legs are always cold and i do not seem to be able to warm them and I constantly have to move them to attempt to get better.
My specialist suggest that it is caused by my knee and I am fed up in hearing there suggestions as I know the pain to be very different from one another.
can someone help me to diagnose accurately my problems?

Another pain starts in my groin and goes down to my knee where it seems to go inward behind my knee. I have been tested for a blood clot in that area but none was found.
I treat these pains with heat and that seems to help.
I have had surgery for a herniated disk.
Standing still causes pain in my hip area.
My ability to walk for any distance is now causing more pain and fatigue.
Thank you for being here. What type of doctor should I see?
I thought it was a trapped nerve, might still be, but I am getting increasingly worried about this.
Walking is a nightmare now and lying in bed is alos as it is difficuly to find peace and relief from the pain.
I first noticed this some months ago when I just had a slight jabbing pain top right but hese last few weeks it has become really bad.
It's a tingling sensation when I sit but very painful when I walk although mentally telling myself to relax the leg does make it a little easier to walk.
What is the answer and cure for this, walking or resting or tablets or ?????
My knees click when I stand up from a sitting position.
Any ideas on the cause please.
regards
Michael.
please help
But it is now a week later and it feels sore when i touch down the thigh
I am going out walking tomorrow is it any thing to worry about
