I am suffering from RA and I am 50 yrs old. I have hbad it since I was in my 40's. I have the nodgles on my feet, back part of my ankles, my hands, elbows and now have muscle spa$ms in my neck and right shoulder. I am up right now due to sever pain in my right shoulder and right side of my neck. I was diagnosed with this disease from my neck to my feet. I am on disability from this and I can not afford a dr or meds. I deal with the pain every day. I went to the hospital here a few weeks ago cuz of the pain and the dr said if I don"t get something done soon it will cripple me within the year. Thanks for letting me vent. I wish I could get something to help me.

I was diagnosed with RA-3 yrs. ago- At this moment, I am having a flare and feel so bad that I even considered going to the ER. I am on Methotrexate and Sulfazalazine. Never thought to make plans with my Rheumatologist when I had a flare. Will call Rheumatologist tomorrow and beg her for cortisone. I am hurting so badly, that I am nauseated!!! Thanks for the info!!!

hi

When I get a bad flare I use a TENS machine. You can buy them over the counter and they provide extra pain relief without taking further pills. Sarah

I was diagnosed with RA last year though I believe I have had it for years. My doctor stopped seeing me and had me start seeing the Physicians Assistant in her office and it took a long time of my complaining of pain before she actually sent me to a Rheumatologist for testing.

Now with no health insurance and I'm in a new town with no doctor I am trying to just deal with it on my own.

Aspirin doesn't help, Naproxen doesn't help, Ultram doesn't help. Does anyone know of an over the counter med that works?

Today I had a serious RA flare up. Every joint was so painful, especially the arch of my foot..couldn't walk, and flu like systems. Doctor put me on Prednisone for a couple weeks. Usually take a small dose of Napresone daily for normal control. But some times I get serious flare up. Stay off my feet a couple days helps. Have had RA for 12 years after completing a cancer treatments. My mom had it in her early twenties. We have come a long way since. I am 67 today.

Jason I am so sorry to hear about your situation. I am 41 and I can't imagine what it would be like to have pain everyday. It must be very frustrating. Do the meds not work because of the joints that ra affects or some other reason? I am new at this and if I seem ignorant I am sorry. My husband's doctor just called us and said preliminary blood work came back positive. I came to this site for answers and when i read your post I just wanted to take away the pain for you. I hope there will be day when you are pain free and I hope it sooner than later. Best wishes for you.

I'm 40 and have had RA since I was 19. I haven't had one day pain free since then. I'm having a bad flare as I type this. I've been on every medication and I mean every and nothing has helped. I haven't been able to bend my wrists in 12 years. I'm at the end of my rope. I can't take it anymore.
