Have you heard the phrase, “attitude is everything?” Do you believe it? I do.
I am not naïve and I do not believe if I think everything will be OK, it will be. But, I do believe our attitude has a direct link to how a situation affects us.
For generations, children’s stories have addressed personalities. From the earliest stages of life, we are taught about the different ways to approach a situation. We are given an example and shown how our attitude can make a difference.
I’m sure everyone remembers the fairytale of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” What about the more recent cartoon, “The Smurf’s”? Then there’s the simplest story of all, and probably one of the most popular, “Goldie Locks and the Three Bears.”
The characters in the first two stories are more complex and address personalities of many types (especially The Smurf’s); everything from intelligence to complete laziness and beyond. But the story of the three bears is simple. There’s too much of one thing, not enough of another and ‘just right.’
It’s probably safe to assume that all of us know people who fit into the three bear categories. Those who are stern, grumpy, bitter and constantly complaining; the soft spoken personality who sugar coats everything; or the happy go lucky, take everything in stride, who avoids conflict and rarely complains.
And of course, we cannot forget about Goldie Locks? When she’s faced with a situation, she studies it, considers her options, and then chooses the angle that works best for her.
Which character do you relate to? Are you a Papa Bear, Mama Bear, Baby Bear or Goldie Locks?
I’d like to think I’m more like Goldie Locks. Not because of my hair (see my introduction blog, About Annette Beach), but because I face challenges. I see the truth for what it is. If it’s bad, it’s bad and I deal with it. If it’s good, that’s great. But I do not take a bad situation and decorate it with rainbows and unicorns, then deny the truth.
If anything, I probably sway a bit toward Papa Bear, too. I’m not bitter and grumpy, but I am stubborn.
Throughout my life, I’ve had to face complex situations and my health has challenged me in many ways. Some of my experiences have been tough (and they seem to be getting tougher), but that’s life. Nobody said it would be easy. I strive to make the best out of every situation.
How would you answer this question? When life gives you lemons, do you make lemonade or margaritas?

I would like to think that most of the time I am a tigger, although sometimes the devil gets the better of me and I feel such a weight, which makes me more like eoyore. But I believe that God would have us to be tiggers, so I strive for that!
